RICHMOND HILL FIREWORKS BY-LAW

Richmond Hill’s By-Law #77-10 requires permits for the sale of fireworks to ensure they are properly displayed and safely stored at authorized retail outlets. The By-law states that fireworks may only be sold by vendors to which a permit has been issued.

Applications to obtain a vendor’s permit to sell fireworks are available from Fire Prevention located at 1200 Elgin Mills Road East. It will take approximately 30 days from when the permit application is filled out to when the vendor’s location is inspected.

· All retailers in Richmond Hill that sell consumer fireworks must obtain a vendor’s permit and display it

· Prior to issuing permits, Richmond Hill Fire & Emergency Services must inspect the premises

· Vendors must provide safety information to purchasers of consumer fireworks

· Consumer fireworks can only be sold on Victoria Day, Canada Day and each of the seven days preceding these two holidays (exception – Permanent Vendor)

· “No Smoking” signs must be posted where consumer fireworks are displayed

· Consumer fireworks cannot be sold from an outdoor stand, tent, van, trailer or motor vehicle
